A cost–plus is a contract where the contractor is paid for all of their allowed expenses as well as an additional, previously agreed upon profit percentage.
Fixed price contracts are simple. The contractor predetermines how much the project will cost, builds in the profit and contingency, and works within the contract’s scope. The owner knows that the project won’t exceed the contract amount. Any addition work is billed outside of the fixed price contract.
